Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs
Charles Bullock is the vice chancellor of academic affairs (chief academic officer) for Brandman University, a private nonprofit university, with over 11,000 adult students. Brandman University is headquartered in Irvine and has 25 campuses in California and Washington. As Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Charles provides leadership for four schools (Arts & Sciences, Education, Nursing and Health Professions, and Business and Professional Studies), two divisions (Continuing Education and Online Education), and over 1,200 faculty and staff.
Before joining Brandman University in 2008, Charles served for 12 years as the Dean of the School of Business Administration at the University of Houston – Victoria (UHV). During his leadership, UHV was recognized as a national leader in the delivery of distance education and online business programs. His school earned numerous awards and recognitions including being ranked #2 nationally in the 2007 edition of Princeton Review’s Best 282 Business Schools among business schools offering the greatest opportunity for minority students; and recognition by Fortune Small Business (September 2007) as one of America’s Best Colleges for Aspiring Entrepreneurs.
Previously, Charles served as president and chief operating officer for Banking Consultants of America (BCA), where he was responsible for new business and product development and management of professional staff and operations. Under his leadership, BCA was recognized as one of the top eight consulting firms in the banking industry.
Charles received both a BBA in Accounting and an MBA from Sam Houston State University. He then earned a JD with honors from Texas Tech University and an LLM in Taxation from the University of Denver. Charles held various positions with the Southwestern Business Deans Association including serving on the board as vice president, program chair and treasurer. He also served as chair of the Education Committee of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce and member of the Victoria Small Business Roundtable. Recognized as a thought leader in distance learning and higher education innovation, he presently serves on the WASC Technology and Innovation Task Force.
Charles, his wife Paige and son Hank live in Coto de Caza, California.
