Congratulations to Liz Toomey, University of California, Irvine, and member of OCBC’s Government Affairs Committee, for being awarded the University Service Award at the 42nd Annual Alumni Association Lauds and Laurels Awards Ceremony. The ceremony, held May 17, 2012 at UCI, honored 20 outstanding alumni and friends for their contributions and commitment to the university. Since 1987, Toomey has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the campus as a champion of higher education and campus growth. As the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Community and Government Relations, she advises senior leadership on campus positions and strategies related to local, state and federal legislative and community matters. Toomey has been instrumental in expanding numerous advocacy programs such as UC Day in Sacramento and the Joint Higher Education Day in the Capitol. She managed the UCI/LA Times forum series, Getting Smart on the Issues and collaborated with Student Affairs to initiate UCI Vote and the Candidate Town Hall Program.
