The Orange County Business Council invites you to attend the first event in the 2007 Chairman's Leadership Breakfast series. OCBC's immediate past Chairman Tom Phelps, of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, will continue the series initiated in 2006, interviewing influential Orange County business leaders in an informal setting, encouraging dialogue with the business community and among the county's foremost business leaders.

Tom's guest in March will be Matthew E. Massengill, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Western Digital Corporation. Massengill has served as Chairman since 2001 and served as the corporation's Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to 2005.

Massengill started his career at Western Digital (WD) as a product engineer in 1985, when the PC was in its earliest stages and WD was playing a key role in the development of hard drive controllers and communications products. He held various engineering and marketing positions and was named VP of Marketing for the Personal Storage Division in 1993, after which WD grew from a small supplier of hard drives to the world’s largest supplier of drives in the desktop PC market.

Under Massengill’s guidance as CEO, WD re-emerged as a premier supplier of hard drives to the PC industry and the consumer electronics industry for such products as gaming consoles, digital video recorders and handheld media players. In fact, you likely have several WD hard drives in your home and office today.
