Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) visited Orange County Business Council last week to meet with a handful of Orange County industry leaders to discuss health care and tax policies, and the nation’s economy. Congressman Price echoed the sentiments that have been heard many times recently regarding the nation’s unemployment rate – something needs to be done to get people back to work. “Everybody knows somebody who isn’t working, or not working in the position they want,” Congressman Price said.
Another topic of discussion during the lunch meeting was that of health care policies. Congressman Price is also a physician with personal career experience in meeting patient needs. He voiced his view that “what Washington is doing is harmful to patients,” and outlined the components of his bill, HR 3000, to focus on quality patient care, without all the government regulation. The plan has gained bipartisan support. The plan addresses three main concerns.
- The need for everyone to have health care coverage;
- Insurance affordability; and
- Elimination of defensive medicine through legal reform.
Congressman Price supported the group’s views on over-regulation from the federal level, stating that regulatory burden has to be eased if the nation is going to see economic growth.
“It’s stagnation by regulation,” Congressman Price said. “And it’s choking the economy.” For more information contact Kate Klimow, Vice President of Government Affairs.
