An adequate infrastructure system is critical to meeting the growing needs of Orange County’s residents and businesses. Whether it’s advocating for increased investment in the county’s roads and highway system, or increasing the supply of quality drinking water, OCBC works to make sure Orange County is able to meet the demands of a growing population and expanding economy.

Watch video of Governor Schwarzenegger discussing pressing infrastructure issues at a recent meeting of business leaders in Sacramento. Included are comments by OCBC President and CEO Lucy Dunn.

Currently, OCBC is advocating for a bi-partisan comprehensive solution addressing longstanding issues regarding water storage and solutions to the state's most urgent needs.  Among these are restoration to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, investing in local water supply projects throughout the state, and Delta conveyance.

As part of these efforts, OCBC is standing together with the "Dream Team" of Southern California economic development organizations on this issue, including San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, LA Area Chamber of Commerce, San Fernando Valley Industry & Commerce Association, Inland Action, Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Business Council, and United Chambers of Commerce of the San Fernando Valley, Central City Association, and the Inland Empire Economic Partnership.  For more info, contact Kris Murray at kmurray@ocbc.org.

The Business Council understands that good planning for our future – sound, efficient infrastructure systems -- is the very foundation our region is built upon, a key driver of:

  • a prosperous, growing economy
  • competitive businesses
  • and a high quality of life for Orange County residents

Meeting infrastructure challenges requires good research, planning and strategy, and ultimately taking strong leadership positions on infrastructure policies and projects that will largely define Orange County’s prosperity and quality of life for decades to come.  The Business Council prepares for these crucial decisions in our Infrastructure Committee and Board meetings.
