Manufacturers evolve to capitalize on OC’s $25 billion international trade market
OCBC reveals how businesses tackle changing political and economic forces to thrive at 2015 Economic Development Forum
IRVINE, CA — Orange County Business Council (OCBC) presents the 2015 Economic Development Forum, sponsored by Chase, Thursday, September 24 at Irvine Marriott. Under the theme, “Will Orange County Manufacturers survive in a Global Market,” the forum will highlight two of the region’s most critical and booming industries – International Trade and Manufacturing — and discuss how those industries will evolve to thrive in today’s changing political and regulatory landscape.
With its proximity to major ports and airports, Orange County is a hub for International Trade, which accounts for more than 202,000 jobs. Last year, the county’s exports – many of which were manufacturing related – surpassed $25 billion, ranking Orange County as the 14th largest exporter in the U.S. However, recent developments such as Congress’ inaction to reauthorize the Export Import Bank of the United States, have affected some of the region’s top cross-cutting industry leaders. The forum will feature a moderated panel of experts from top manufacturers, such as The Boeing Company and QSC Audio Products, as well as International Trade powerhouses Port of Long Beach and UPS. The featured speakers will provide insight on how business evolves to succeed in a global economy, as well as discuss the recent slowdown of the ports and the effects on Orange County.
The forum will also feature keynote speaker Morgan McGrath, Head of International Banking, Commercial Bank, JPMorgan Chase, and a regional economic analysis from Southern California’s leading economist Dr. Wallace Walrod, Chief Economic Adviser to OCBC.
