IRVINE, CA — The Orange County Business Council, Orange County Department of Education and the Orange County United Way join together January 15 at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate the successes of the Latino Educational Attainment Initiative (LEA). This inaugural event will recognize the influence of LEA parents and students’ achievements, partnerships created and communities enhanced when children are well-educated.
Presented by The Waltos Group of Northwestern Mutual, the reception will additionally feature remarks from State Senator Lou Correa of the 34th district on the importance of parent involvement and the necessity of learning the fundamentals of the education system in order to better assist their children. Sen. Correa chairs the Public Employees and Retirement Committee of the California State Senate and has long been an advocate for education opportunities for all.
LEA is a coalition of business, non-profit, education and public agencies facilitating connections among programs, resources and experts to ensure the next generation of Orange County workers are skilled to compete in the global economy. The initiative’s long-term goal is to create neighborhood-based groups that will provide navigational skills to parents throughout the county.
