IRVINE–Orange County Business Council is hosting a forum on Doing Business in China on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Wyndham Hotel Orange County, sponsored by Chase and UPS. The event is open to the public, and will feature industry professionals discussing the opportunities for doing business in China. With the third largest economy globally, China represents the world’s fastest growing business opportunity. Over the past 10 years, USA exports to China have quadrupled to approximately $65 billion, five times faster than exports to the rest of the world.
Featured keynote speakers Morgan McGrath, Managing Director, Head of International Commercial Banking, J.P. Morgan; and Mark Sobolewski, Vice President, Corporate Strategy, International Engineering, UPS, will discuss how U.S. business can successfully engage in the Chinese market.
In addition, a panel of international business experts will discuss topics including: the impact of Asia’s growth on U.S. and OC businesses; opportunities for OC businesses in China and Asia; the complexities of doing business in China and Asia; trade compliance; and protecting intellectual property.

As one of the most economically competitive and prosperous regions in the world, Orange County provides distinct advantages for international trade, especially with China. These advantages include the County’s proximity to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, a well-connected freeway and road system for trucking, rail lines providing national trade linkages, proximity to Los Angeles International Airport, John Wayne Airport, and a large and growing presence of an ethnically diverse population providing key contacts for international linkages. Orange County also ranks second in the nation in the number of high-tech clusters, making it among the most diverse high-tech economies in the country.
