Orange County Housing Market Begins Healing

On April 20 Dr. Robert Keinhenz of the California Association of Realtors and Carol Schroeder Wold of FivePoint Communities shared with a packed Workforce Housing Committee the housing outlook in Orange County. According to Dr. Keinhenz, “The housing market has been sending mixed signals over the past two years. But now, we’re finally seeing that Orange County is in the healing process and home buying is trending upward.” With over 3,000 people moving out of Los Angeles County and in to Orange County on a year-to-year basis, there is a great need for affordable housing in the Orange County market. Great Park Neighborhoods is being developed by OCBC member FivePoint Communities and will feature over 3,000 acres of housing, retail, office, and recreation space. Great Park Neighborhoods is in a prime location for families, working individuals and retirees. A study showed that in 2005 there were 68,500 jobs within a 3 mile radius of Great Park; however, it is estimated that by 2030, a whopping 146,000 jobs will be located in the area.
