IRVINE, CA —Lucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council (OCBC), received unanimous support from the California Senate Rules Committee and confirmation to the California Transportation Commission. The confirmation follows Ms. Dunn’s appointment by Governor Schwarzenegger to the CTC in June of 2008.
Dunn received broad support from the business community, environmental organizations and labor unions throughout Orange County and the state. Also speaking on behalf of Dunn were State Senators Tom Harman, 35th District and Lou Correa, 34th District.
Senator Correa noted Ms. Dunn’s extensive experience as CEO of OCBC and her past involvement in her efforts to preserve the wetlands at Bolsa Chica. “Lucy Dunn brings a keen vision for progress for California and a strong commitment to providing a better quality of life,” stated Correa.
As the only woman on the 11 seat commission, Dunn also serves as the sole representative of Orange County—the nation’s fifth largest county. The CTC is responsible for programming and allocating funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail and transit improvements throughout California. The Commission also assists in formulating and evaluating state policies and plans for California’s transportation programs and is an active participant in the initiation and development of State and Federal legislation that seeks to secure financial stability for the State’s transportation needs.
