State Funding Sources/State Funds



Brief: The State of California is developing permanent sources of funding to provide to agencies and cities throughout the state for the provision of housing developments or affordability programs.

Description: The state’s funding sources present a wide range of options to fund purchase assistance programs, establish and maintain affordable housing stock over time, and incentivize affordable housing development, among other programs still under exploration.

CA State Housing Loan and Grant Programs, CA Department of Housing and Community Development
The department administers a variety of programs and funding mechanisms including: The Building Equity and Growth in Neighborhoods Program (BEGIN), The CalHome Program, The State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, The Infill Incentive Grant Program, The Jobs/Housing Balance Improvement Program/Workforce Housing Reward Program, The Multifamily Housing Program (MHP), and others. Many of these programs are new and are in their initial stages of funding and disbursement.
