State Funding Sources/State Funds  Brief: The State of California is developing permanent sources of funding to provide to agencies and cities throughout the state for the provision of housing developments or affordability programs. Description: The state’s funding sources present a wide range of options to fund purchase assistance programs, establish and maintain affordable housing stock over time, and incentivize affordable housing development, among other programs still under exploration. Examples: CA State Housing Loan and Grant Programs, CA Department of Housing and Community Development The department administers a variety of programs and funding mechanisms including: The Building Equity and Growth in Neighborhoods Program (BEGIN), The CalHome Program, The State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, The Infill Incentive Grant Program, The Jobs/Housing Balance Improvement Program/Workforce Housing Reward Program, The Multifamily Housing Program (MHP), and others. Many of these programs are new and are in their initial stages of funding and disbursement. |
