Mario A. Aguirre is Director of Gas Distribution for the Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas).
As Director of Gas Distribution Projects, Planning, Engineering and Work Management, Mario oversees and is responsible for the planning and engineering of the entire 100,000-mile SoCalGas distribution pipeline system. Mario is also responsible for several distribution pipeline projects and the work and resource management for over 2,000 distribution field employees and contractors across the entire service territory from Visalia to El Centro.
From 2010 through 2016, Mario launched and project managed the installation of 6 million advanced meters-the largest project ever for SoCalGas at that time. Prior to that role, Mario spent 10 years in Information Technology in various operations management and infrastructure roles in addition to negotiating and overseeing large outsourcing contracts for SoCalGas’s sister Company, SDG&E and parent Company, Sempra Energy.
Earlier in his career, Mario had served in various roles in Transmission, Storage, Engineering and as Account Executive for Computer Sciences Corporation.
Mario graduated from California Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer.
Mario, a Southern California native, currently resides in Aliso Viejo.
