Breaking News: Friday Marks Deadline for Bills to Make it Out of House of Origin
Lawmakers in Sacramento rush this week to meet a Friday deadline to pass bills out of their house of origin before they expire. The only bills exempt from the Friday deadline are those requiring a two-thirds vote, such as a proposal to revamp the state’s cap-and-trade program for regulating greenhouse gases. OCBC is currently tracking more than 70 bills that could impact Orange County’s businesses and economy relating to transportation, housing/land use, labor/employment, environment/CEQA, contracts/business, health/healthcare, education/workforce development, taxation, telecommunications, government/regulations, and tourism. Of the 76 bills being tracked, OCBC supported 43 bills, opposed 31 and remained neutral on two and wrote or signed onto coalition letters for 43 of the bills.
