Millennial About Town: Hotel Irvine

“Millennial About Town!” is a new feature to the OCBC Indicator chronicling the great entertainment, arts, and culture found right here in Orange County as covered by me, your “Millennial About Town!” Patty Conover. Got suggestions for me? Send them to pconover@ocbc.org.
The Irvine Company bought Hotel Irvine about two years ago when my coworkers and I caught wind that the newly owned resort intended to snag a young, hip millennial crowd. Our naïve, indignant and predictable response of “We’re not gonna fall for that!” was quickly proven wrong. Here’s why:
Unique Specials: While Hotel Irvine quickly garnered a reputation as a fine place to stay, it also offers an array of fun specials throughout the week to draw budget conscious professionals who simultaneously appreciate a finer ambiance – cue the Millennial! Between the Red Bar and Lounge and Eats Restaurant, the after work crowd can enjoy a Monday through Friday Happy Hour from 5-7 p.m.; Sip & Smoke on the Patio every day after 3 p.m. with a menu featuring three single-malt Macallans paired with a cigar at just $35 a person; $5 Pint Night on Wednesdays accompanied by a $10 Oyster special, and much more.

Entertainment:  Thursday through Friday after 9 p.m., Red Bar Lounge turns into a DJ hot spot with acts hailing from LA, San Diego, and local talent from Orange County. I will neither confirm nor deny that “Just one drink at Happy Hour” somehow turned into a much longer evening prompted by unexpected club music.
Culture: Honestly, Hotel Irvine just has a fun vibe. I walk over to the deli and grocery Market Place almost every day either to grab lunch or an afternoon snack, usually for under $8. In the heart of one of the most pristine business districts of Irvine, Hotel Irvine offers a funky, but stylish breather. CLICK HERE to learn more about Hotel Irvine.
