Message from OCBC CEO: OCBC is Open for Business

Dear Orange County Community Leaders,

Business, government and academic leaders in Orange County are at the forefront of monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. As are you, OCBC is implementing protocols and processes to avert spread of this virus, especially to vulnerable populations.

We will help manage issues regarding the safety of employees and the resiliency of this county’s economy. We continue to take steps based upon recommendations from relevant scientific authorities aimed at protecting our community.

In upcoming e-Indicators, we will be sharing best resources to help you plan and weather COVID-19 issues. We recognize this situation is fluid and welcome your insights and upgrades to share, with a goal of getting out the best information to keep our community — and region — healthy and strong.

We are open for business, carefully taking measures to protect us all:

  • Events and Meetings: As appropriate, we are holding committee and board meetings via toll-free conference call or video, retaining great speakers for issues important to Orange County. The March 31 Chairman’s Leadership Breakfast with Disney Resort CEO Rebecca Campbell is being rescheduled to a new date. Stay tuned.
  • Resiliency: We are closely monitoring resiliency opportunities including seeking state and federal emergency funding in partnership with our government agencies, advocating for emergency legislation and regulatory relief to assist business and our partners in recovery, and assist community members and partners in their efforts to restore a vibrant economy. Let us know your ideas. How can we help you fully recover and thrive when this crisis is over? It’s time to let our legislators know how they can assist us.
  • Travel: We have postponed OCBC’s annual legislative trip to Sacramento to August, working on new dates. We have cancelled OCBC’s annual legislative trip to Washington, DC, to resume in 2021.

OCBC remains ready to preserve and protect Orange County’s economic prosperity and high quality of life — in good times and challenging times. Orange County’s competitive advantage is its Infinite Possibilities – Innovative Solutions. We will thrive together.

Stay calm. Wash your hands. Practice “social distancing.” Let’s take care of each other.

Sincerely,

Lucy Dunn

OCBC President and CEO
