Millennial About Town: Kaitlynn Irvine Checks Out Twenty Eight Restaurant & Bar
“Millennial About Town!” chronicles the great entertainment, arts, and culture found right here in Orange County. Got suggestions for me? Send them to Patty Conover.
Tucked away off Jamboree in Newport, Twenty Eight Restaurant and Bar is a young professional’s dream watering hole to celebrate the end of the work week with friends and coworkers surrounded by chic ambiance. Minimalist wooden décor fills the room with flat screen TVs at the bar for watching sports games. The space is lit with delicate marketplace lighting and included a patio with high tops, tables, and couches with fireplaces. The happy hour is the definition of budget friendly and runs Monday through Friday 3 to 7 pm. With $6 specialty drinks including a crisp Moscow mule, a Whiskey Sour, a Margarita, and a few wine selections to my enjoyable drink of choice, the Passion Fruit Martini, there’s a trendy cocktail for everyone. The $3 happy hour appetizers are savory, addicting and upscale in appearance. The spicy Kung Pao Chicken Wings and Skinny Fries were my top picks for the evening and proved the hip and creative menu was up to par. Between the modern mod and the happy hour, a cheap millennial such as I felt like a West Coast version of Carrie Bradshaw -if only I could have worn some Manolo Blahniks.
