OCBC bridges gaps between education, industry with roundtable series
On Thursday, OCBC partnered with Rancho Santiago Community College District to hold the first of a series of Industry Roundtables geared toward bridging gaps between academic curriculum and the skills industry seeks in an incoming workforce. This first roundtable focuses on the Healthcare Industry sector, with representatives from CHOC Children’s, St. Joseph Health, and MemorialCare Health Care System meeting with leadership from Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College to discuss trends in talent acquisition, such as the increased need for specialties in outpatient care, medical assisting, administrative back-office skills, and homecare aids. Additionally, the group discussed best practices for interning students, and how to make the most out of their experiences. The next roundtable will focus on the Advanced Manufacturing Industry and will be held at the end of November. For more information, contact Patty Conover, Director of Government Affairs.
